Draught Works Vanilla Gwin Du Oatmeal Stout with some pulled pork
Has it been a year already? Draught Works has been serving great beers in one of best tap room scenes in the state, and for their big day, they decided to serve up a delicious spread of brewery grain-fed pulled pork with all of fixin’ (I love when I can say fixin’ properly). The meat was sweet and tender, but what to pair with it? The answer was plainly evident, a nice pint of the Vanilla Gwin Du Oatmeal Stout. The beer matched perfectly with the meal. Congratulations to the folks down at Draught Works, and I can’t wait for your next anniversary.

Vanilla Gwin Du Oatmeal Stout Notes
Appearance: Imagine this, a stout that is dark as a coal digger’s ass. Poured with a fluffy tan head, looked like oatmeal.
Aroma: Great initial whiff of vanilla along with the roasted notes with some chocolate aromas.
Mouthfeel: Creamy and full-bodied…very inviting
Taste: Roasted malts, vanilla, and some sweetness from the oats come through nicely.
Overall: This is perhaps the best food/beer pairing that I have encountered in the recent past. The Vanilla Gwin Du Oatmeal Stout is picture perfect representation of the style and the Draught Works brewery.
